Over the years,
WAKF has provided scholarship schemes, literacy initiatives, and vocational training to over 5,000 underprivileged children and youths in Bauchi, particularly focusing on women and girls through specialized programs. Furthermore, WAKF has equipped over 5,000 citizens with the skills needed to establish self-sufficient careers and businesses.
In the year 2020, Mr. Bala Maijama Wunti founded the Wunti ai-Khair Foundation (WAKF) in Bauchi State, inspired by the urgent need to address the prevalent issue of high illiteracy rates, particularly among children from underprivileged backgrounds.
Recognizing the transformative potential of education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and community development, WAKF was established as a non-governmental organization with a specific focus on implementing projects that would contribute to these crucial facets of societal well-being.
From its inception, WAKF committed itself to serving as a catalyst for positive change in Bauchi State and beyond. The organization's mission was grounded in the principles of ensuring access to quality education, establishing a robust healthcare system, promoting economic empowerment, and fostering community development.
Over the years, WAKF's impact has been tangible and widespread.
Through dedicated efforts, the organization has granted over 100 scholarships to individuals facing economic hardships, initiated over 200 literacy campaigns to enhance educational opportunities, and provided vocational training to more than 1,000 citizens, equipping them with essential skills for sustainable livelihoods.
Beyond its direct initiatives, WAKF has strategically forged key partnerships with influential individuals, both locally and internationally, as well as with reputable NGOs and public service officials.
These partnerships have been instrumental in addressing critical issues in Nigeria and across the African continent, amplifying WAKF's reach and effectiveness in contributing to broader societ. transformations.
